I told you 'I told you so!'

Fact: EVERYBODY knows someone who is harden till it's not funny anymore. Hence the title of this blog. How many times have you had to say 'I told you so' to someone? I can't begin to count on my end, much less for those of you that identify with where I'm going with this. Harden people don't listen, till its too late, and then they FEEL.

When I was younger there was one saying that my elder family members used to hit me with when I was being harden; 'who doh hear does feel'. I ignored it naturally, because at that age who really listens to all that older people tell you? I continued doing whatever it was that I wasn't supposed to until out of nowhere *SLAP*- cue tears and endless confusion as to why I got that. Then it clicks- they said if I didn't listen I would feel.

Hold onto the essense of that tidbit and stick with me here, my focus here is on harden people, specifically women in relationships lately- why don't you listen?!

I see it all the time: women don't listen to the warnings and the many instances of 'advice' they ask for about their worthless, utterly disrespectful significant others until they feel.... Feel hurt, anger, embarrassment, shame, confusion, regret and the entire list of negative emotions associated with dating complete douches.
N.B: *DOUCHE as used in this (and many other) blogs does not indeed refer to the feminine cleansing product but rather a man that is a total failure at relationships, and therefore life. LOL.

Jack and Jill meet, fall 'one sided-ly' in love (Jill of course), and begin to date. Jill is happy, blissful in the ignorance that Jack is a douche. So she is deaf to the signs and concerned comments that this man is a waste; till she FEELS. Jack has another woman, more than one sometimes, Jack is married, Jack hits me, Jack hides me from meeting his family, friends and the lot- Jill wonders why nobody told her all this... Everybody wonders why Jill didn't LISTEN!

For the sake of general respect and courtesy, and of course not wanting to 'buss anybody's scene' just so- let's stick with the Jack and Jill nicknames.
I've known many a Jill in my life; I think at one point or the other, I probably was a Jill but that's another blog for another day. LOL. Point is, I have had to say 'I told you so' millions of times and eventually you begin to wonder if you need a blowhorn or a loud speaker attached to you when you have to say it over and over. When will they get it?

What was that? ....
He cheats? He cheated?
He ignores you for his boys?
He doesn't listen to what you say?
He's just using you ?
He's immature, insecure, self absorbed, *insert complaint here*
He dumped you? Again?
Common say it with me now 'I TOLD YOU SO!'

Ladies, all the Jills out there- it's like this. All people want in life is to be happy, to do anything that makes them happy. Men and women both want that. Unfortunately, track records state that sometimes men go about it in the wrong way, and ways that are unfair to us girls. To be FAIR to my male readers, sometimes women seek happiness in ways that are unfair to men; so it's just not a one sided 'i hate all men' Rah! go estrogen!' kinda vibe going on here.
As I see (and hear) it, as of recently, all the Jills in my life are unhappy alot- by who else? Their Jacks ( there is a derogatory joke to be made here against men, but I shall refrain).

My point is that I want women (in my life) and in general to LISTEN. Don't be harden anymore, because we all know that feeling is a lot worse than simply listening to the things we often don't want to hear. We feel horrible in the after math of a relationship gone wrong, and the last thing we want to hear is 'I told you so'.
If it were up to me, the phrase 'I told you so' eventually would be accompanied by a swift tap; or depending on the severity of the matter, a hard slap upside the head. Have no fear friends and people that I know, no violent outbursts/reactions on the horizon!

LISTEN! Listen to those around you; family, friends, co workers (because ladies you know we love to gossip on the job about the boyfriend/husband/current distraction in our lives). Most importantly, listen to yourselves, if your gut's telling you this relationship isn't right... don't be harden.
Feeling comes with a heavy price- and when dealing with matters of the heart, it should never be that expensive.

Time to palance!

So after sticking long enough to do this first blog I forced myself to sit down and churn something out for you good people to read! I wracked my brain trying to find something to chat about this week and then it struck me- CARNIVAL!

First off I'm wishing everyone a very happy bacchanal Wednesday from my waistline to yours! :)

Carnival seemed as though it took forever to get here! Some people blasting their soca music since December 26th! Now that we're mid Carnival week the ting done start! People are picking up costumes and making last minute changes, getting the last minute gym time in for spin and aerobics to look FLY come Monday morning! And this weekend the fete-ing, wining and palancing comes to an all time high!
In my opinion, this season isn't much different than the ones before yes- what's changed? what's missing? O yes! That brings me to my first piece of opinion in this carnival talk!

* Carnival 2K10 had every soca artist in the dance minus one- Mr HD. No performances, NOWHERE. Thank God the man release his music otherwise I would have had some serious problems. But to be quite honest, I didn't miss you Mr HD, and whatever your reason was to chose to 'brace we' and perform only at Beyonce's concert, all I can say is 'like yuhself'. I heard that it was because you couldn't hold Alternative Concept in the stadium, but just in case you forgot, Patrick braced EVERYBODY not just you Mr. Montano. I also heard that you just decided to take a break, if that's it then your absence did everyone else good because they are doing a great job. So I think CK 2K10 is living well minus the HD deficiency all in all.

Oh! I totally forgot Destra was the other absentee, but this blogger honestly did not notice. Congrats on the baby!

* Ok, this one I am most excited about- road march. Who say J.W and Blaze? Personally I think after this carnival the word 'palance' should just be put in the dictionary yes. These two men just taking carnival by storm one wine at a time and it is my firm belief that they're taking road march. I can see Carnival Monday and Tuesday in the streets of P.O.S with a flood of colorful masqueraders swaying from left to right and getting on with no conduct to this song! So I hope they win, and if they don't Shall Marshall and Screws taking it with 'Police in d session' for sure!
Blaze and J.W- like yourselves yes and activate the palancing!

* Chutney. Now normally I admit to not being the biggest chutney fan but in recent years I have come around. Especially this year, people like Ravi B, Rikki Jai and others have me singing the chutney songs out loud, and then laughing at myself right after. Man like Ravi B took the Chutney Soca Monarch title in his sleep so to speak because 'Drinka' is the big chutney song this season. I'm glad to see the genre of music getting more widespread and I think they'll do bigger and better things next time around!

* Soca Monarch & Groovy Soca title. Come Fantastic Friday night I will be in front my television watching this because it's going to be good. At first I thought Faye Ann had it in the bag, but then I heard that Ravi B is apparently in it so now the game is on. Should be good!
For power soca monarch, it's again either between 'Palace' or 'Police' which is strange because they are the same riddim.lol. come's down to the performance yes, and they should all be insane!

* Honorable mention goes out to certain artistes this season because they just honestly rippin' up. HD family minus the fearless leader, Buffy, Busy Signal, Faye Ann & Bunji and Kes the Band get serious props from this blogging lady. Although I've only attended one fete this season (thus far) I must say the 'dance was nice' because these artistes gave great performances.

* I have stopped following and concentrating on 'Band of the Year' but this doll is a TRIBE doll at heart, so I send out much love and many happy wines and times to the TRIBE massive. I have no doubt that come Monday and Tuesday the roads will be packed with tribe masqueraders having a time!
Not forgetting others like Hearts, Spice, Trini Revellers and others that I can't remember at this moment, I wish everyone a palance filled season!

So to wrap up, the time reach! I hope everyone has a fun and safe season and come Monday and Tuesday let's all show the world why this time is ours!

I think I'll end this one with the spirit of the rest of this best week '.......
"We doh care bout the recession! All we want to do is have fun! Jumpin' up in the blazin' sun!"
